Why We Built This
PR professionals spend too much time on the wrong things. Building media lists from stale databases. Guessing which journalists might care about a story. Sending the same generic pitch to hundreds of inboxes and hoping something sticks.
Journalist MCP exists because we believe outreach should be precise, not noisy. When you know exactly who covers your beat, what they've written recently, and how to reach them with verified contact data - your pitch doesn't feel like spam. It feels like a tip from a trusted source.
We're building the infrastructure that lets AI agents do the research grunt work so PR teams can focus on what actually matters: crafting stories that land.
The Story
It started with a simple observation: every PR team we talked to was paying for media databases that were months out of date. Journalists had changed beats, moved to new publications, or gone independent - but the databases hadn't caught up. Teams were pitching the wrong people with the wrong context.
The tools that existed were either bloated enterprise platforms that took weeks to onboard, or basic spreadsheets that broke the moment someone changed a column. Nothing was built for the way modern PR teams actually work - fast, scrappy, and increasingly AI-augmented.
So we built Journalist MCP. Not another database you query manually, but an AI-native toolkit that plugs directly into the workflows PR professionals are already building with Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI tools. Real-time journalist discovery, coverage analysis, contact validation, and media list generation - all accessible through the Model Context Protocol.
The result: PR teams that used to spend three days building a media list now do it in minutes. And the lists are better - because they're built on what journalists are actually covering today, not what they covered six months ago.
